What do you believe is the purpose of a college education? I believe the purpose of a college education is to find an area of study that interests you and exploring that area further to see if it is truly for you. There is definitely an area of study out there for everyone that they will enjoy and excel at and I think thats what college is for: to find that area of study that suits you best so that you can go out into the real world and find a job you will succeed at yet enjoy as well.
What does it mean to be educated? Being educated means that are able to express your thoughts, ideas, and knowledge in a useful manner to move further ahead. When it comes to being educated, most people automatically think of being good at math, writing, reading, science and every other history but it is a lot more than just book smarts. Being educated also deals with street smarts such as communicating with others, knowing the right ethical decision to make, and other factors such as those. An educated person is well-rounded with book smarts and street smarts that get the by day to day.
What experiences have you had with education that led you to this belief? Some experiences that I have had that prove my reasoning behind what it means to be educated is me and my best friend. My best friend excels at school and book smarts, she appears to be very intelligent however she lacks street smarts which makes it difficult for people to take her seriously sometimes. On the other hand, I am mediocre when it comes to book smarts and show good performance in street smarts unlike her. I think in order to truly be a fully educated person, you must have a bit of both to tie everything together.
